732*Unusually neat and clean collection to the 1990’s in three Scott National albums in which we stopped counting the catalog value at $15,000.00 and face at $1,500.00. The first book includes apparently complete mint commemoratives from the Columbians and most mint definitives from 1917 on. The second contains 1984-1994 panes, booklets, souvenir sheets and plate number strips of five. The third has about 100 additional booklets and panes, dozens of ducks and EFOs, and all airmails including C13-C15. Condition of earlier issues varies unexpectedly given the careful presentation, so examination is a must.Cat. Value: S.B. 3,500.00
Price Realized: $6,500.00
733oOld time dealer used working stock and back up stocks plus others in eight assorted stockbooks. Most were assembled in the 1960’s or before with substantial 19th century, many unusual cancels, etc. Also includes a shoebox of postal history, mainly New Mexico, and some mint postage. Tremendous catalog with many better, undetermined common duplication and typical varied condition. Worth becoming familiar with.Cat. Value: S.B. 2,000.00
Price Realized: $1,800.00
734*A very old collector’s block of four collection crystal mounted in a Scott album. Better items worth mentioning are 230, 232-235, 235 block of six, 287, 290, 303, 306, 309, 324-325, 357-358, 367-371, (369 has a heavy owner’s mark on reverse), 397-400, 401-403, 547 (left two are NH, right two with margin stuck to the reverse), 545, 548-550, 551-572, (with three stamps of the 572 being NH), 578-579, 614-621, 692-701, 803-834, C5, C7-C12. Condition of the group is rough, it appears some moisture has made its way in causing numerous gum glazing from very minor to major. Still some items were not affected resulting in the illusive NH copy. Centering ranges from Fair to VF. A tricky lot to come up with the right price. Though examination highly recommended. Profits lay within.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,500.00
Price Realized: $3,500.00
735oTwo fairly typical overlapping collections from about 1851 to 1935 plus airs and ducks, both laid out in order on black stockpages. Includes over 500 used stamps with centering and cancels like you would expect. Figure the better ones and the rest come along for the ride.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,400.00
Price Realized: $1,000.00
736*oAccumulation of useful mint and used in a small stockbook. Strongpoints are a full page of used classics including banknotes and earlier along with # 291, 311 x3, and C1-C6; a group 15 mint imprint pairs of #286 with mainly different plate numbers; and a couple of EFOs. The bulk of the owner’s catalog of over $10,000.00 is in the used earlies with around 40% of the value in mint. Enough good material to make this lot a bargain. Check it out.Cat. Value: S.B. 1250.00
Price Realized: $1,100.00
737***A very attractive accumulation of mostly lower to medium values from a selective collector’s duplicates. Mint items worth noting are 219D, 232-234, 237, 239, 305-307, 319j with a photo copy of a PFC when it was part of a plate margin strip of three, 320 pr., 330, 343-347 prs., 397, 400A (oxidized), 401, 524, (803-834) x2, one set is a plate number group, and 832b. A couple of used are 68 and 218. Overall condition is mixed yet much better than normally found as these items were replaced by a better specimen to be harbored in the collector’s main collection. Take your time examining this assembly for an occasional questionable item. A marvelous grouping that must be seen to be appreciated.Cat. Value: S.B. 950.00
