| | | Lots 544-552 are a Dealer’s Choice Collection which are part of an expert’s lifetime collection of vintage Detroit Publishing postcards. In the opinion of many collectors, Detroit Publishing postcards are among the finest quality of vintage cards ever made due to their exclusive Photochrom process which gave them additional accuracy of color not found in the work of other publishers of the early 1900s era. All cards are mounted in PVC-safe archival pages and sorted by geography, topics, series numbers, etc. The dealer’s goal was to obtain one copy of each of the approximately 16,000 views listed in the Nancy Stickels Stechschulte catalog. He regularly reviewed his collection, added items acquired from various sources, and upgraded his cards whenever necessary. The lots in our auction contain all-different, mostly F-VF postcards and are a mix of posted and unposted material. Be sure to view the address side of mailed cards. We noted numerous examples of RPO and DPO cancels. | |
