1081OHistorical 12” X 14’ document signed by President Thomas Jefferson and Secretary of State James Madison in Washington the 18th of December 1804. Confers on John Bartlett, a Sergeant for the War (Revolutionary) 133 1/3 acres of land lying northwest of River Ohio between the Little Miami and Sciota Rovers in southern Ohio. This original document was purchased by a prominent magazine editor who worked in the 1960s to 1990s for the New York Times. He bought it in France. Unfortunately, no documentation to verify these facts which should not distract from its authenticity and from biding on it. Appears to have been in a frame at one time. Condition as per scans and in outstanding condition for its age. Unusual to find the signatures of the then current president and his succesor on one document. Presidential historians will really appreciate this offering. Don’t let this one get away.Cat. Value: S.B. 7500.00
