1590CVFlown to the Moon and back Apollo 15 infamous historic Space cover. Carried by Astronaut Dave Scott in his space suit. Upon return all covers held by the Astronauts were confiscated by NASA and held until a law suit after the flown Space Shuttle covers hit the open market allowed their return to the Astronauts. These crew signed cacheted covers were machine cancelled at the Kennedy Space Center on July 26, 1971. Upon arrival on the USS Okinawa they were stamped and cancelled again onboard August 7, 1971. This one is number 104 marked #294 on the reverse. In a December, 2004 letter to the former owner (Woody Witt), Jan C Irwin-Ewing, daughter of Astronaut James B. Irwin describes the cover as "my father gave this cover to me". Also includes the original COA (July 19, 1983) signed by all three Apollo 15 Astronauts. Plus certificate cards from Al Worden and Dave Scott attesting to #104 being authentic. Lastly this lot includes Mr. Witt's internet research of these covers. This is a Rare opportunity to own a rare cover with excellent provenance.Cat. Value: S.B. 7500.00
