Deep in the bottom of a closet in an old timer’s estate was found this small carton of around 1,500 glassines in seven small boxes. These have not seen the light of day since the early 1980s and many are cataloged by the 1968 Scott catalog. The original collector belonged to several exchange clubs and measured his trading prowess by the increase in catalog value of his holding in these boxes of glassines. Plenty of value: British UPU 1949 set, Hawaii singles, and Newfoundland airmails are a few of the many notables. Huge 1980 catalog value which is meaningless in today’s market.
