162CVTwo matched Balbo flight covers. The first is “Italian Air Cruise to Newfoundland” with the $1.70 rate tied by purple cachet and July 23, 1933 duplex cancel. The second “Italian Air Cruise to Rome” with the $3.60 rate tied by Chicago July 18, 1933 cancel. Both cachets on the face and both color receiving marks on the back. 163CVPair of clean South American Europe/Pan-America round trip flight covers. The first a true round trip cover is franked with both C14 and C15 margin copies. Both are tied by cachet and (Apr 26, 1930) circle date duplex cancellation and is properly backstamped. The second is a USA – Germany cover paying the rate with a pair of C13 tied by a Lakehurst (Jun 2, 1930) flag machine cancel and the extra Lakehurst N.J. straight line cancellation. 170CVJ. Lindley (Judge) Green 1904 penalty cover from an Alaska pioneer. Green served as commissioner and was dispatched to towns that had fallen apart as gold seekers abandoned areas for the big strike. This cover is from Rampart, Alaska that had been virtually abandoned in 1903. Here is an attempt by Green to find a land owner using only hearsay from the local natives. Dispatched from Rampart. Alaska Oct 1, 1904 it arrived in Fairbanks Nov 19, 1904. Because W.G. Strong could not be located it was returned to Judge Green still in Rampart. Remailed Jan 28, 1905 received back in Rampart 100+ miles to the north Feb17, 1905. A little rough from its amazing journey this cover is a rare survivor.Cat. Value: S. B. 50.00

Both sides, multi colored presentation on a regular #6 business envelope neatly opened at right. Pure Paints emblem on the front with an East of the Mississippi River map on the reverse.
