348CVGermany (Soviet Zone) Michel #195a in combination with the Zschopau overprint forgery both in tied blocks of four on an overfranked cover. Produced to defraud the post office these were found in a post office in the town of Zschopau (Saxony) only after numerous examples were sold to the public. This cover is registered carrying proper cancels and backstamps. The 1991 GPS certificate states “genuinely used”. The enclosed note includes “probably unique”, “illustrate it in the GPS reference Manual of Forgeries”, and “indeed a rare item” as descriptions. Value at the time of certification was figured at $2,500.00. An important properly documented showpiece of postal history.Cat. Value: S. B. 750.00
