295*oAn old time mint and used mainly 19th and 20th century front of the book collection. Starts out strong with the 1851-1856, 1857-1861 both perf and imperfs, and 1867-1868 simple grills followed by the ever popular 1869s. All the Banknotes are present minus the grilled issues. The early commems up to the 50¢ value were spotted followed by the early 20th century commems. Strong early Bureaus and 1901 regulars up to the dollar values. An impressive well populated Washington-Franklins singles up to the dollars along with the coils where caution is advised. There is a tiny bit of BOB with the Parcel Post being the best. The more valuable mint section includes numbers 30, 37-38, 76, 219-229, 230-240, 285-291 (287 is NH), 294-299, 300-311, 323-330, 331-341, 397-404, 414-423, 424-440, 479, 480 (NH), 498/518, 505, 523-524, 547, 551-573 (50¢, $2, $5 values are NH), 595, 658-679, and Q1-Q12. The smaller used group includes numbers 7, 9, 12, 14-17, 18, 20 x2, 27, 28 x2, 29, 30A, 31-32, 36B, 37, 67-72, 75, 77-78, 98, 100-101, 112-118, 120-121, 145-155, 156-166, 182-191, 218, 261A, 276-278, 312, and 461 (non-recognizable cancel). 297*oA mostly used three volume 1847-1940 commemorative and regular issue collection combined with a four volume 1938/1971 mint plate block group. Both mounted on Minkus pages. The more prevalent used portion are numbers 1 with a blue cds cancel, 2 with a blue grid cancel, 12, 15, 17, 37, 67, 70, 97-101, 120-122, 155, 166, 191, 218, 241-245, early dollar value Bureaus, 291-293, 311-313, and 523. The surprising mint numbers are 658-679, 630 with tape stains, C1-C6, C13-C15 (HR’s), and C18. Condition is mixed. A presentable assembly ready to be matched up with a mint group.Cat. 299*oA mainly used 1847-2000 mounted collection in the new Scott albums. Pleasing assortment of 19th century regular issues and commemoratives with a scattering of Washington-Franklins then well developed after that. Bit of airmails, BOB with Shanghai overprint being the strongest section followed by Federal Ducks. The smaller mint group includes numbers 242-243, 547, 630, and C14 (damaged). The larger used selection includes numbers 1-2, 12, 17, 70, 78, 120-122, 191, 218, 241, 245, 277, and 292. Condition is very mixed so cautious viewing is recommended. Better numbers like 551-554, 556-558, 560-568, 575-577, 631, 581-583, 585-587, 589-591, 595 (weak vert. perfs, vlh), 632/642, 658-660, 663, 665-668, 669-674, 677, 679, 692-701, 803-834, 1030-1053, C7-C12, and C20-C31. Mostly NH except 560-562, 567, 582, 586-587, 589, 591, 663, 665-667, 671, 677, and 679. Also includes high value face types and plate number coils, strips of three for a bonus. 301oAn outstanding original old time 1882-1960 used collection of singles, blocks, and plate blocks. Started by the father and continued by collector who is over 80 years old. The pair had an eye for the unusual and was knowledgeable for the unique. Single items worth mentioning are numbers 217-218, 240-242, 276-276A, 285 on piece franked with a Shanghai cancel, 291-292, 312, 342 pr., 347 strip of three, 412 line pr., 444 line pr., 500 with a cert., 523, 545-546, 578 x2, 579, 599A strip of four, 658-679, E1-E8, K1-K14, and K17-K18. Blocks include numbers 310, 325, 382, 400A, 532, 533 line block, and 536. Plate blocks are numbers 577, 612, 614-615, 617-619, 620, loads of 2¢ Reds, C10-C11, and C24. There are numerous other lower priced items from each of the categories previously mentioned that adds more spice. A group never seen before by this describer in all of his 35 years’ experience. Includes a pretty Presidential assembly which a 834 plate block was spotted, a 1920s-1940s commemorative bunch on old pages that holds a White Plains souvenir sheet, E3 block of four (bottom pair are NH), E7 NH, Q12, a decent bunch of Federal Ducks, many being NH, a potent stockbook of medium value early commemoratives, C1-C6, a small deceiving box with plate blocks which include 585, 614-615, 617, 628, 715, a crafty collection on loose Minkus pages housing used numbers 1, 14, 70 x3, mint numbers C6 NH, C13, E3, a bulbous near empty until the 1920’s Scott national album and finally an accumulation of U.N. with two #38 sheets tucked away thrown in for ballast. The condition of the very early issues is rough but does get better starting with the Columbians. The valuable mint group includes numbers 160, 230-240, 277, 285-291, 294-299, 310, 323-330, 341-342, 369, 397-404, 479, 523-524, 547, 571-573 (all three NH), 630, 658-679, C1-C6, K1-K16, and Q1-Q12. 304*oA humongous hoard of stamps contained in 14 very heavy cartons storing 19th and 20th century mint and used from the very cheap to moderately expensive. Includes remaindered and elementary collections with one zinger, Commemorative Collector Society binders from the 1990s to 2000s, year sets, a little patch of precancels, loads and loads of scrap postage, and interesting Canal Zone collection on White Ace pages, and UN thrown in for a bonus.
