875CVGerman (Samoa) strange and wonderful December 1905 postal from Samoa to Ireland. German colony 5pf postalcard uprated to 10pf. The sender had occasion to visit Savaii where the Mt. Matavanu volcano had begun to erupt spewing lava and causing a devastating tsunami. The card is dated October 12, 1905 but not mailed till December 10 so on December 5th the writer visited the lava field and attached a half inch cinder to the card and sealed it with wax.
