COLLECTIONS AND ACCUMULATIONS — Germany & Area
LotConditionDescriptionValue/Bidding
1010*oGermany and area collection in three homemade volumes. The Empire and Reich are mainly used with little power. The early mint post WWII is where the value is at with over 60% of them were found to be NH. Includes a posthorn set, Red and black Berlin overprints, all the bells, the bear singles, UPU, and all the early semipostal sets. Condition is quite outstanding with surprises almost on every page. A good look will suit you well.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,600.00
Price Realized: $900.00
1011*oGermany and area accumulation found in three circa 1959 European approval books purchased in their entirety and put away for later. German colonies are the focus with Kiauchau, offices in China and Morocco, Marianna Is., Caroline Is., and South West Africa being especially strong. Watermarking glitches could be a problem on some of the higher value yachts. Condition is better than usually seen with faults only on the backsides of the stamps. Fun lot to breakdown.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,300.00
Price Realized: $3,250.00
1012*oGermany and area mainly mint collection filling two large cartons. DDR is best in a two volume Scott Specialty albums virtually complete mint from 1949-1990. Also strong are the Germany proper albums again virtually complete 1949-2007. Strength in the many mint complete sets a few of which when checked were NH. Also includes Berlin, Danzig, Saar, Empire, states, occupations and colonies all to a much smaller extent in remaindered albums, stockbooks, counterbooks, etc. Plenty to work with and interesting to work backwards toward completion.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,300.00
Price Realized: $1,800.00
1013*oGermany and area collections/accumulations in five binders. Covers states through DDR till around 1980. Mainly intermediate collections with an occasional surprise. Best in early post WWII Federal Republic with Berlin of the same time period close behind. Three of the albums are on Scott Specialized pages slightly remaindered with lots of loose stamps in the margins causing storage problems. Will take some work to transform into stock.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,200.00
Price Realized: $1,800.00
1014oGermany and area collection of mainly used stamps in two Scott Specialty albums. Lots of power with problems. Many pages in the albums have stamps mounted with “miracle tape” that promised never to fail. The adhesive’s oils have migrated to the backs of the stamps causing irreparable staining that will only increase in damage over time. Some are conventionally hinged and are salvageable. The Berlin bunch, the airmail section, and a used Ostropa sheet seem to have escaped unharmed, but this lot with its huge apparent catalog value are offered, intact “as is”, to our most intrepid stamp reclamation experts.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,000.00
Price Realized: $1,200.00
1015*oCVGermany and area accumulation of old auction lots (33) found in an area estate. Huge catalog in better than usually seen condition. Purchased during the time when prices for this area were higher allows the buyer now a good bargain. Strongest in early postwar Berlin and German offices and colonies (especially Kiauchau). Powerful compact lot sure to fill holes in multiple collections.Cat. Value: S.B. 950.00
Price Realized: $700.00
1016*Germany and area basic mint collection from states through Berlin 1849-1973. Strong throughout with many NH found while spot checking (around 35%). Saar is strongest with solid semipostals and airmails. An intermediate Soviet Zone and DDR collection to 1970 along with General Government and a smattering of colonies add to the value. A long look will prove fruitful.Cat. Value: S.B. 900.00
Price Realized: $1,150.00
1017oGermany and areas cancel collection of about 400 mostly mounted on attractive homemade pages. Includes a few better values in the States, Empire and colonies but real emphasis of the collection was to only keep clear readable cancels. Among these are many smaller towns, railroad, ship and unusual types along with forerunners in the colonies. Needs further study.Cat. Value: S.B. 850.00
Price Realized: $650.00
1018*oGermany and area selection in eight handy sturdy Rubbermaid file drawers in two cartons. Hundreds of mint and used stamps from the early to the late 20th century mostly different in singles, partial, broken full sets having values mostly from $1.00 to $20.00 with potential surprises. Encompasses German regular, commemorative, semipostals, Berlin, and DDR. Nicely organized and identified by catalog number on salecards. Good lot to breakdown into smaller units.Cat. Value: S.B. 800.00
Price Realized: $475.00
1019*oGermany and area collection in three Scott Specialty albums. Includes Germany 1872-2007, Berlin, and offices and colonies. At one time, was an advanced collection, but now has been remaindered of most of its power. Still has an amazingly high catalog value with used stamps predominate. Hundreds of stamps with good CDS on the modern used. An occasional surprise especially in the used post WWII. Great beginner from which to pursue an advanced collection.Cat. Value: S.B. 750.00
Price Realized: $550.00

1021*oGermany and area ready made stock in two red boxes in hundreds of “102” size cards. Strong states (especially Bavaria) up through Berlin and Bundespost to around 1972 without DDR. All in Scott order with a large majority catalog $1.00-$10.00 with useful duplication. Mixed mint and used, mixed condition with plenty of surprises. 1022*oGermany and areas accumulation in around 250 or so small glassines. Organized in Scott order, these have a catalog value of over $7,000.00. 1023*oGermany and area stock book accumulation comprising five old stockbooks and a small box. Best is the first Bundes stockbook with two mint posthorn sets, a mint Heuss set and multiple mint and used sets from 1960-1980, Bavaria is strong with sections of mint and used, good value in the Saar and French zone, many modern mint in the second Bundes book, Berlin has sections of mint and used sets in multiples, while Danzig is an afterthought. Also includes a small box of mint booklets that trend toward the modern. Viewing necessary to see the full potential.Cat. Value: S.B. 600.00
Price Realized: $650.00
1024*oGermany and area disheveled collection in two Scott Specialized albums that can never be used again. Scotch tape was used to hold the crystal mounts in place staining the pages and loosening the mounts so now stuff is floating unabashed in the margins of stained pages. Good news is most of stamps are mint and the mounts have protected most of them. Lots of value in the mint early post WWII including a posthorn set and various semipostals. Check to see if this is your salvage project.Cat. Value: S.B. 550.00
Price Realized: $1,100.00
1025*oGermany and area two volume Scott collection oddly matched as a pair. The first is Germany II with colonies, occupations and plebiscites. Danzig, General Government, and Saar are best. The other album is DDR 1946-1977 with better than 60% coverage with mixed mint, used, and CTO melded together into a collection. Perfect duo for someone.Cat. Value: S.B. 550.00
Price Realized: $375.00
1026*oCVGermany and areas fairly weak but massive Germany collection with three worthwhile parts each almost good enough to be single auction lots. The first is a Lindner Hingeless Bavaria collection with high catalog. The second is a small box of over 400 German area covers that are a little bit better than dollar table fare. The last is a specialized group of inflation sheets and multiples. Great lot for the dealer known for German area material.Cat. Value: S.B. 500.00
Price Realized: $375.00
1027*oGermany and area accumulation/collection. Starts with an old style Safe hingeless album 1948-1962 of DDR that includes #022a. Then includes two binders of better things such as souvenir sheets, larger pieces and the like from Germany proper, Zones, Berlin and DDR that have an aggregate catalog value of over $2,700.00. Lots of NH in these. Together they make an intriguing holding worthy of review.Cat. Value: S.B. 500.00
