721CVAir related selection from 1910-1954 in a medium size pizza box. Roughly 39 covers and 16 early aviation postcards. Consists of numerous “crash” covers also some having informational newspaper articles. Highlights include stamped by PO “Damaged at Kansas City Dec. 28.33 when plane fell into river”, “Damage due to air mail interruption near Salt Lake City Utah Dec. 15, 1936” and ”Damaged in plane fire at Warren O. 9-21-30.” Postcards cover 1910-1926 including several “real photo” from US Mail Planes Boise and Aviation Meet Chicago. 730*CVStampless and local assemblage related to the original owner. The stampless covers are franked with the two examples of the “Quaker Date” Colerain Ohio black large circle cancel (ASCC $275). The local group is 145L2 (West Town) which includes one tied with a Scott 11 on piece, one cover with the local on the front of the cover untied to a Scott 11, three covers with the local on the reverse (2 with Scott 65, 1 with Scott 94), all with a Street Road Pa. cds., and finally a single unused copy. Also included are five covers franked with Banknotes adding little to the value of the lot other than they are addressed to Jacob Maule the son of the postmaster Joshua Maule of Colerain Ohio in the 1850’s. This collection is all tied together by a photocopy of a 1932 newspaper article about the Society of Friends, a Quaker group that ran the school in West Town Pa, a 1985 letter to Linn’s explaining the history of the Quaker community in Colerain and Jacob Maule from the grandson and finally a 1995 Herman Herst Jr., LinnCat.
