This is the working stock/collection of a collector who bought virtually everything Russian he could find at a time when Russia was not very popular. The focus is on the early to middle periods with less in the post 1960 era. Contains literally dozens of highlights, just a few of which are (all mint) 71A, 195a, 610 (imperf), 617A, 628a, 635 (imperf), C23a and eight of the airmail officials most of which are signed at least once. 1167*oRussia almost exclusively mint collection in four Scott albums. Quite sparse in the Imperial era but picks up with Soviet issues and is substantially complete from 1936 to 1975. Better sets throughout including (all mint) 294-301, 525-528, 536-539, 540-545, 555-558, 569-572 and C75a. The airs and dues are a bit weak but the offices are strong with good Offices in Turkey such as #1 (mint) (signed), ‘city’ overprints 101-160, 171-199 and 213-227. 1176*oRussia study of the postal markings used in St. Petersburg during the Imperial Russian era. Mounted on annotated exhibit style pages, this represents the culmination of years of searching for cancels and covers. There are a few hundred stamps and about 65 covers or cards, each contributing to the overall story. Another 50 covers are included that were duplicates or of lesser quality.
