COLLECTIONS AND ACCUMULATIONS — General Foreign
LotConditionDescriptionValue/Bidding
1317*Tremendous 19th century worldwide collection of many thousand mint stamps on Scott Vintage Reproduction pages. Personally built by the late Phil Hodges of Philatelic Consultants. He carefully catalogued it several years ago. However, there are hundreds of uncataloged later arrivals loose between the pages, an uncataloged US BOB section and many missed fakes, reprints, fiscal cancels, etc. Thus, today’s actual catalog value could be significantly different. While there are many familiar stamps, there also is very much fresh better material throughout. Furthermore, this is a great opportunity to acquire many very high catalog classic stamps from countries in Europe, the Commonwealth and elsewhere that are either mint, unused NG, or not real. Of course you should carefully inspect this collection to determine its actual value to you.Cat. Value: Owner’s cat. abt. 350,000.00
Price Realized: $30,000.00
1318*oThe balance of a tremendous stock identified in small glassines and lined up, not always in order, in boxes. We did not have time to break this down any further so, to give our beleaguered describers a break; we are offering this as one lot. There are 18 boxes of glassines, and each is filled with moderate to better sets and singles. Mostly mint with plenty of NH. The condition of the few we checked was above average. The boxes contain such disparate areas as Iran, Great Britain, South America, Vatican, Australia and Liberia, but there is no logic as to what may be in each box (why are Iran and Spanish Colonies together?). Estimated catalog value exceeding $90,000.00, this is a terrific lot for the dealer looking to enhance a world wide inventory.Cat. Value: S.B. 11,000.00
Price Realized: $27,000.00
1319*oWorldwide airmails to about the 1970’s in four extra clean Scott International airpost albums expanded to nine volumes. Primarily mint (NH?) sets in mounts, with some much better, plus souvenir sheets, imperfs, and other varieties and also some used or nonairs scattered about. Strong in French area imperf pairs, with the scans showing only some of the better items from around the world. A tremendous resource from which to extract exciting stock.Cat. Value: S.B 5,000.00
Price Realized: $10,000.00
1320*oA massive A-Z stock on “102” size cards pretty much filling 85 red boxes and ten of the white storage boxes. Mostly lower end retail level items with a few better scattered throughout. More used than mint and any duplication is in the sensible range. Good opportunity to add lower grade material to a stock at next to no labor.Cat. Value: S.B. 5,000.00
Price Realized: $4,250.00
1321*A mostly mint NH dealer’s stock of souvenir sheets, booklets and larger items neatly organized by country A to Z on “107” size cards and pretty much filling ten plastic tubs. Almost no duplication and clean throughout.Cat. Value: S.B. 4,500.00
