1046OLarge Photo Album and Scrapbook Holding. Eleven scrapbooks and eighteen photo albums in a four-box lot. Early twentieth century to the 1960s. The scrapbooks chronicle organized tours and independent travel through Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Greece, Italy, Northern Europe, Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia during the 1950s and 1960s; they contain hundreds of snapshots and RPPCs as well as some maps, clippings, etc. The albums consist of American and foreign amateur and professional photography, with photos arranged by topic. We found hundreds and hundreds of photos showing males, females, children, groups, celebrations, military bases and soldiers, farm scenes, animals, everyday life, workplaces, interiors, exteriors, boy scouts, funerals, landscapes, etc. Worldwide representation. The photos are almost entirely in black and white, appear clear and focused, and range in size from approximately 3 in. by 2 in., with a few in smaller size format, to 8 in. by 10 in. We also noticed one binder of nineteenth-century U.S. photos, some with revenue stamps on the reverse. All in all, a cultural and historical overview of life and travels in the United States and abroad and one of the largest accumulations of photographs we have ever offered.Cat. Value: S.B. 400.00
