Altogether, there were six camps: Aonogahara, Kurume, Nagoya, Narashino, Ninoshima and Band?. This small box lot includes 56 cards and covers from these camps. A variety of markings and their excellent condition, demands a serious look through. Includes two out of print tomes (in German from the 1960s) that help explain the markings. Green served as commissioner and was dispatched to towns that had fallen apart as gold seekers abandoned areas for the big strike. This cover is from Rampart, Alaska that had been virtually abandoned in 1903. Here is an attempt by Green to find a land owner using only hearsay from the local natives. Dispatched from Rampart. Alaska Oct 1, 1904 it arrived in Fairbanks Nov 19, 1904. Because W.G. Strong could not be located it was returned to Judge Green still in Rampart. Remailed Jan 28, 1905 received back in Rampart 100+ miles to the north Feb17, 1905. A little rough from its amazing journey this cover is a rare survivor.Cat. Value: S. B. 50.00
