COLLECTIONS AND ACCUMULATIONS — United States
LotConditionDescriptionValue/Bidding
679*oAn original accumulation sorted and identified in two groups of mint and used from a long time ago. Contains both 19th and 20 century commems and regular issues from very light to moderately light duplication. Most of the value lies in the mint 1890’s to 1930’s era. Includes some airmails and special deliveries. Conditions is mixed with a pleasing amount of NH. Take your time because some of the identification needs to be double checked.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,900.00
Price Realized: $2,400.00
680*oOne kindly old couple’s mint and used collection/accumulation filling four large cartons. He valiantly attempted to collect parallel mint and used collections through the early 2000’s. Sizable sums were spent at the post office with sheets, blocks and singles all represented. Little, if any, scarce material. Highlights include a three volume Minuteman collection, several volumes and stockbooks of used, seven “104” size red boxes packed with mint and used in duplication, and a couple of sheet files packed with sheets through 32 cents. High face is a consideration. Should easily break down into logical marketable parts.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,800.00
Price Realized: $1,800.00
681*oAccumulation of a couple hundred glassines each containing a damaged higher catalog US single or part set with catalog of up to $100.00 each. The cataloging is only relative because most fit into the space filler category with poor condition permeating. No gum, thins, creases, missing hunks, scuffs, heavy cancels, perfins, etc are all featured. Offered “as is” at a slim fraction of supposed retail value.Cat. Value: cat. 90,584.00
Price Realized: $2,600.00
682**Huge face value accumulation of various state ducks in quantity. Virginia, Montana and Michigan comprise the lot which has a face value of over $13,400.00. Almost all were produced in the late 1990’s with individual face values of $5.00 each. Offered at a very low fraction of catalog.Cat. Value: cat. 30,000.00
Price Realized: $2,000.00
683*oMostly used collection in a 3 ring binder on neat homemade pages. Owner’s catalog of $20,000.00+ is optimistic bordering on wishful thinking. Fakes, poor condition classics and some outright damaged have been counted, but there is still much value to be discovered here. Highlights include used #1, 117, 119, extensive Washington Franklins, C1-C6, C18, Q1-Q12 etc., mint Kansas Nebraskas, and a White Plains sheet. Most dubious are the Newspaper Periodical stamps found in the back of the book with customs stamps and cut squares. An interesting valuable holding that should not be ignored, offered at a small fraction of cataloged value.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,500.00
Price Realized: $3,250.00
684*oEstate collection filling a large carton. Starts with an intermediate All American collection into the 1970’s with used Columbians to 30˘, Trans-Mississippi to 50˘, Pan-American, etc. and then turns mint. Bulk of the value is found in the over $2,000.00 face value of plate blocks and multiples up to 42˘ values found in the other binders and boxes. A good opportunity to put your hands on an intact US stock.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,200.00
Price Realized: $1,800.00
685*oAn eclectic holding of mint and used on salespages, a small stockbook and sheet file folders. The salespages hold both 19th and 20th century commems, regulars, and BOB. Within the group are 1869 issues, Banknotes, Columbians, TransMiss’s early airmails, postage dues, revenues, postage, etc. There is a lot of catalog, however many notations by the owner should be scrutinized carefully and condition is very mixed. Still a worthwhile assembly to be studied for profits.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,100.00
Price Realized: $2,600.00
686*oA gorgeous, very neatly mounted, mostly used collection in a Scott Album. This beautiful assembly holds both 19th and 20th century regular issues commems, airmails, special deliveries, and postage dues consisting of lower to medium values. Worthwhile mint are 343-347 NH prs., 357-358 NH, 407 NH, 411 NH with PFC, 498/5 (many NH), and C18. Better used noted are 24 x2, both with PFC, 71-72, 112 with PFC, 113, 116-117, 149, 151 with PFC, 153, 212-218, 220-229, 230-239, 285-290, 294-299, 300-311, 328-330, 397-404, 479-480, 524, 547, C1-C6, and J1-J7, (J7 with PFC). Condition at tad bit mixed, however far superior to most collections. Many of the single stamps offered earlier in this auction originate from the collection. Great group for the collector with an eye for quality.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,050.00
Price Realized: $3,500.00
687*oA basic mint and used 19th and 20th century collection in a Lighthouse hingeless album. Very light in the pre Columbians and little, if any, Washington-Franklins and BOB Noteworthy mint includes 230-241, 285-290, 294-298, 232-330, 369, 397-400A, 401-403, 517 cert PFC, 524 plate number single with a PSE cert., 551-573, 581-591, 630 (tear in the margin), 658-679, 803-834, C1-C6, C13-C14, and C18. Condition is quite mixed.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,000.00
Price Realized: $1,700.00
688*oBalance of a retired dealer stock in remaindered albums, stockbooks, and stockpages filling the better part of three cartons. Nice airmails and older US in variable condition. Also includes some sparsely filled Heritage albums for ballast. Great lot for the non discriminating collector.Cat. Value: S.B. 950.00
Price Realized: $4,500.00
689*oCollector’s holding consisting of his collection and duplicates filling a large carton. The collection never quite got off the ground on homemade pages that begin in earnest around 1860. Some power in the classics and Banknotes up to around 1950. Highlights include mint Kansas and Nebraska, Prexies, and Farleys plus used Columbians to 50 cents, C1-C6, Washington Franklins (some in blocks), and Q1-Q12. Mixed condition with lots of duplication often in unexpected places. With some extensive organizing could become a useful stock or collection.Cat. Value: S.B. 900.00
Price Realized: $3,250.00
690*oCollection in a carefully used 1975 Scott National album. Apparently this collector followed the typical pattern of acquiring recent mint substantially complete, then working backwards from the 1920’s and into BOB with scattered used, and adding better mint NH later in mounts. Thus we have an attractive, but not especially powerful, collection to break down or add to.Cat. Value: S.B. 850.00
Price Realized: $700.00
691*oTwo separate mainly used collections melded together to create an advanced starter collection. The Scott National and the Scott Hingeless albums hold minor duplication, however between the two most of the front and BOB are covered with mostly lower to medium values. Better used numbers are #1, 7, 9 x2, 15, 17, 20, 30A x2, 37, 72, 98, 119-121, 155 x2, 166, (217-218) x2, 240, 276, 276A-312, 291, C18. Condition is quite mixed. Reshuffling and quality improvement waits.Cat. Value: S.B. 800.00
Price Realized: $1,800.00
692*oCollection in seven clean Platinum albums to 1999. Highlights include #1 used, mint 630, mint Kansas Nebraska set, C1-C6, C13 mint, and a few Shanghai overprints. Not many stamps are missing after the Farley’s so face value becomes a consideration. A strong intermediate collection looking for a new home.Cat. Value: S.B. 800.00
Price Realized: $3,500.00
693*oOne of a kind US postalcard collection in six heavy 3 ring binders on White Ace pages to 2008. Clean and well populated, although somewhat lacking in power, is a shelf ready addition to any collection. Give it a look.Cat. Value: S.B. 750.00
Price Realized: $550.00
694*oCollection/accumulation in three cartons. Highlights include post office offerings in their original packing, two parallel mint and used Liberty album collections and a few plate blocks in Harris albums. The bulk of the value is found in the face value postage gathered 1994-2004. An extensive inventory of purchases up to 2000 is enclosed. The persistent postage counter could be rewarded with an accurate count and some scarcer modern sheets. Easy to figure as worth more than our suggested bid.Cat. Value: S.B. 750.00
Price Realized: $2,400.00
695*Neat and tidy grouping of over 100 mostly $3.00 to $15.00 ducks. Most are NH with some plate number singles. Digestible duplication. Very clean and easy to figure.Cat. Value: S.B. 700.00
Price Realized: $1,000.00
696*oCollection/accumulation in two large binders, primarily mint starting in the 1920’s through the early 1990’s. Also includes years sets from 1972-2010, a plastic shoe box of mint stamps on “102” size cards and a box of miscellaneous postcards and postalcards.Cat. Value: face over 1,300.00
Price Realized: $1,600.00
697*oOne man’s heavy accumulation of seven large cartons of US material. Includes dozens of remaindered collections in various albums of mainly cheap stamps, a bunch of subscription offerings, a small amount of mint postage, and some mundane covers. Not much individual value but a nice aggregation. Quite a workout and it looks like a seven carton load of heavy duty patriotic fun to us.Cat. Value: S.B. 700.00
Price Realized: $1,350.00
698*oUS portion of a small consignment in two large cartons. Strength in the prodigious amount of face value postage in sheets, plate blocks and scrap. Includes rudimentary collections of US singles and plate blocks along with stockbooks and a cigar box. Plenty of face for you to count with our estimate in range.Cat. Value: S.B. 650.00
Price Realized: $900.00
