COLLECTIONS AND ACCUMULATIONS — General Foreign
LotConditionDescriptionValue/Bidding
Lots 1172-1189 are individual volumes from a well used but clean nine part A-Z Scott International to 1974. Each volume has all of a country’s pages interfiled and interleaved, with blank pages to hold stamps for which there were no spaces. Each volume includes thousands of mint and used stamps, with many in mounts that may be NH, numerous high values, and long sets, all owner-cataloged by country for easy sale separately. Pictures are representative of the uncommon stamps throughout, and are not necessarily the best in the book. Happy figuring.

1190*oAn incredible accumulation in 20 cartons. Most of the value (and volume) is in about 90 three-ring binders of mint British Commonwealth where the collector apparently succeeded in collecting the reign of Queen Elizabeth II complete to about 1993. Unfortunately, some (but not all) of the stamps have tape stains from sealing the ends of the dreaded clear mounts. Among the obvious better areas include Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Falklands. As we were quickly repacking this lot, we also spotted much U.S. face (and a 1053 plate block); surprisingly good Burundi from the 1960’s and 1970’s; loads of topicals including Disney and the two early Greek Olympic sets; three Irish seahorses (mint, one with tape stains); several shoeboxes of unmounted souvenir sheets; and much more. Truly a massive amount of material, ripe for breakdown into smaller units yielding good profits for the savvy marketer.Cat. Value: S.B. 35,000.00
Price Realized: $27,000.00
1191*oA fabulous mint and used intact collection in four volumes of mainly International pages to 1940. The collector attempted, and to a very large degree succeeded, in filling every printed space on the pages. The high values often don’t have a space and are therefore mounted in the margins. The U.S. is on National pages and thus has more open spaces than the rest of the collection, but contains plenty of solid material including good revenues. China, Russia, and Japan are among the dozens of other better countries with nearly every page full (or close to it) with useful items. The previous owner counted nearly 40,000 different stamps with a 2008 catalog value of over $150,000. Although overall condition is decent, the catalog value should be discounted a little due to some revenue cancels and occasional faults. This collection would make a very good worldwide stock or you can use the inventory breakdown in the front of each volume to sell by the country. Check the webphotos to get an idea of what is heCat. Value: S.B. 25,000.00
Price Realized: $20,000.00
1192*oScott Internationals part II and III combined and spread out into four albums. The several thousand different mint and used stamps are neatly mounted on emaculate pages and in very clean albums with slipcases. As a whole its well balanced and probably over 80% filled therefore contains many better sets. Also along for the ride is a stockbook containing a few hundred stamps awaiting insertion.Cat. Value: S.B. 5,500.00
Price Realized: $5,500.00
1193*oParts of extensive collections on Scott Specialty, Scott International, or other pages. Countries were grouped into folders at an estate auction, and we are offering those lots intact and combined into one lot. Many countries are represented, with fresh pre-1950 material including classics and other better issues throughout. Many pages are full, but not necessarily with complete sets, and many are out of order or missing, so you should keep this in mind while viewing. There is a lot of value to be mined here.Cat. Value: S.B. 5,000.00
Price Realized: $3,750.00
1194*oAttractive collection in nine different Scott Brown albums. Includes 19th Century, 20th Century Parts 1-4 to 1939, and 1939-1943 in four mislabeled Annual Albums. Strongest areas are British, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, with most value in the earlier books and scattered complete sets. Will provide thousands of fresh stamps, plus it will look good on your bookshelf.Cat. Value: S.B. 4,000.00
Price Realized: $3,500.00

Price Realized: $2,900.00
1196*oTwo cartons of mainly NH purchased as new issues during the 1970’s to early 1990’s identified in “102” size cards or #3 glassines. All have updated catalog values per 2010 Scott. Mostly the lower end much of which is in sensible qualities which will be beneficial to a dealer or a collector to fill empty spaces and still have quality trading material. Owner’s catalog which is unverified, but from a reliable source, is about $34,000.00.Cat. Value: S.B. 3,750.00
Price Realized: $5,500.00
1197*oDealer stock of worldwide sets and singles neatly worked up on “102” size cards that almost fill a red box. Generally in the $2.00-$200.00 range. Price Realized: $2,700.00
1198*oA medium box of miscellaneous with the majority of the value in Western Europe and Japan housed on about 150 counterbook pages. Each page is identified and contains a single or set, usually mint (some NH) and usually cataloging between $40.00 and $100.00. Also a small box containing some Commonwealth booklets, a stack of souvenir sheets with some of moderate value, and a bunch of UN round out the lot. Clean and easy to process with little duplication.Cat. Value: S.B. 2,900.00
Price Realized: $2,000.00

These binders contain some 19th century, many mint or used sets plus some souvenir sheets mounted or in mounts on a variety of pages along with each book having one or more stockpages. 1201*oA stockbook of mostly used issues, often in quantities and often in very nice condition. The greatest part of the value is in classic used Austria (dozens of four margin copies and lots of cancels to be researched) and in early Great Britain with wing margin copies and, again, cancels to study. Early Bulgaria, Italy, and Denmark are here as are a few other areas holding modest value. The previous owner’s reasonable retail totaled $8800.00, so this lot may well be a bargain. Take a look, you may be surprised.Cat. Value: cat. 26,200.00
Price Realized: $2,300.00
1202*oFive Scott internationals with many thousands of different stamps with most of the value in two albums. Lots of better mint sets throughout. Time frame starts in the 1950’s and runs to the 1960’s. Very clean. Needs to be viewed page by page to appreciate.Cat. Value: S.B. 2,500.00

A wealth of material, most of which is NH and eagerly awaiting placement into “102” size cards for your stock. A solid group.Cat. Value: S.B. 2,200.00

Price Realized: $1,350.00
1211*oAn exciting estate remainder in which the bulk had been sold off many years ago. It’s very disjointed and somewhat mixed up. You’ll get pleasure from sifting through the covers, derive profits from the hundreds of 1960’s vintage new issues but the real value will be found on the mounted pages labeled as “classics”. Just a few of the noteables are France 1-7, 9 x 2 and 10, Great Britain 1 x 2 and 2 then Russia 1 x 2 and 2 x 4 (including one on cover). Well worth the time to figure.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,700.00

Price Realized: $4,250.00
1216*oThree binders with a dealer’s stock of souvenir sheets and other larger pieces. Czechoslovakia is the largest group by quantity but much of the world is represented. Value: S.B. 1,500.00
Price Realized: $900.00
1218*oExtensive world collection in five volumes of a six volume Minkus Supreme Global album to 1974 (missing CE-GA). Many years were spent building this well-used collection and adding blank pages where needed. While much 19th century is rather sparse, there are pockets of early 20th century colonial issues, and full pages of more modern topical sets from many countries. A good example of the efforts of a serious intermediate collector.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,500.00
Price Realized: $3,000.00
1219*oScott international containing several hundred stamps with “S” countries from 1866-1984. Good Spain, Straits Settlements, Surinam and Switzerland. Many nice sets and singles. A very desirable holding.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,250.00
Price Realized: $2,000.00
1220*oAn eclectic accumulation of many hundreds in a large stockbook. Although primarily British area, this group contains an almost indescribable variety of classic to modern issues, with revenues, specimens, labels, and some covers sprinkled in. There are also occasional multiples and a number of interesting cancels to grab your interest. A quick ‘once-through’ noted a number of intermediate value Canadian Jubilees (mint), at least three Cape triangles (used), and lots of shilling to pound values (mint or used). Among the non-British are classic Chile and better Japan. A fascinating lot worth extensive review.Cat. Value: S.B. 1,200.00
Price Realized: $2,200.00
