Many have invaluable background information on a small piece of paper about the person who sent it. There are two from Alexander Stephens who became the Vice-President of the Confederacy. Condition varies; so inspection required as several items have severe tears, holes, or partial deterioration either from age or storage. A must for the political collector or dealer.Cat. Approximately 2/3 have single stamps, and 1/3 have double or blocks of stamps. Some of the cachet makers are Art Craft, Art Master, Colorano, Fleetwood, and House of Farnan from the 1950s to 1990s. 150CVAn interesting group of covers beginning with three from the Confederacy. One is addressed to Gen R E Lees command (11), one is a missive from Charleston S.C. (#2) and the last is postmarked Charleston, S. C., MAR 24 1861 with a #26 being used after the ‘Admitted to the Confederacy’ date of February 4, 1861. Three stampless covers from Great Britain with auxiliary markings, three stamped envelopes from the 1850-60 era and other early covers. Six advertising covers, one fair cover and five air mail covers round out this lot. Interesting air mail covers: Landed in Sea, First Flight and misspelled Areoplane (sic) Flights on address side.
