159CVFifteen used Venetian AQ sheets from the first form of postal stationery used anywhere in the world. Produced from 1608-1797 using different postmaster names for differentiation of dates. These were used to generate revenue to help the city recover from frequent flooding. They could be written on (one is used as a letter) or used as envelopes (14). Most of those that exist today are damaged from long term storage, floods, rodents, etc. These 15 examples are rare survivors of a mail system used over 300 years ago. Better than usual, albeit variable, condition. Various dates, watermarks, rarities, and usages.Cat. Value: S.B. $425.00
