Next, is the Winston Churchhill which includes a complete 1966 Omnibus set plus better Trucial states issues. Last but again useful is the ITU containing better common designs and imperfs. 228*oCVThree ring nine page stockbook containing everything the owner could find concerning the civil war. Highlights include a handful of Confederate covers most with faults, a couple dozen Confederate singles from wonderful to ugly in appearance and condition, reprints and forgeries, and a few unstamped patriotic covers. Best, however, and not to be missed: FIRST EDITION “Institution of Slavery” “Devine Truth” William B. Hayden a lecture given in Portland, March 17, 1861. Printed in 1861 by David Tucker. This antislavery lecture often reprinted and used as a reason and rallying point for Abolitionist of the time. Paperback, aged and soiled all 28 pages. Plus an inventory and inspection report from February 1, 1865, for the 9th New York Artillery on the way to Petersburg and Appomattox a few days later. Concerns two saddles and three bridles needed by officers. Rare document from this stage of the war. Compact group with plenty of value. Could be the biggest bargain in the sale.Cat.
