LotConditionDescriptionValue/Bidding
922*oAn impressive and important mostly mint 19th and 20th century collection in 4 very clean Lighthouse Hingeless albums. Very few early issues up though the Banknotes but after that the spaces start getting filled, especially with the small Banknotes. The first two commemorative sets are up to the 50¢ values with the exception noted later. The early 20th century commems are full as are all the later issues. The Washington Franklins are well established while the post war is present. Surprisingly very little face value types of the 1950’s and later. Very little airmails, but there is a pleasant population of Postage Dues and a small batch of Ducks with the $7.50 values and later. The useful used contain 62B, 71-72, 75 with cert., 112-121 (112, 120 with certs.), 151 with cert., 241, 291, 312-313. The monumental mint section holds 146 with cert., 189, OG, 210, NH, (with offset and a cert.), 212-215 OG., (213-214 are NH), 219, 219D, 220a, 220c, 223-229, 230-241, (241 is OG), 258-259, 275-276, 285-290 (289 is NH), 29Cat. Airmails include C1-C6, C13-C15 and C18. The BOB turns into a mixture of mint and used with a nice selection of Special Deliveries, Postage Dues and Parcel Post. Condition is quite mixed with a combination of NH, OG, RG, DG and NG. There is much valuable material for the dealer while the collector can concentrate on the regular issues for expansion.Cat. 941*oThe U.S. portion of a large consignment housed in seven binders or stockbooks in a carton. Some of the volumes are scantily filled and all exhibit a wide range of condition and overlapping coverage. That being said, there is much here of value. Much of the value is concentrated in one volume which contains, among others, Q1-Q12 (used); PR114-PR125 (mint); 269-272 (mint); 216 (mint); 1869’s to the 12c (used); and much more. A red stockbook has a couple thousand catalog in moderate value mint, another volume has a mixed mint and used Kansas-Nebraska set, and we spotted a very nice page of singles and pairs with various vending machine perforations, including better. A surprising lot with better value than might appear at first glance, but ignore the owner’s catalog values, as they are grossly optimistic. A thorough review is necessary to evaluate this one properly.Cat. Value: S.B. 850.00
